Inflatable structures concentrate most of the joy of a funfair — and most of the risk when poorly operated. Organizers, here are the five non-negotiable checks before letting the first child climb on.
1. Certification
Demand each structure's certificate of conformity and its last inspection date. A professional structure is manufactured to precise standards for strength, wall heights and impact surfaces — a bargain-market structure offers none of those guarantees.
2. Anchoring
Every anchor point must be used: stakes on soft ground, ballast on hard ground. Wind is the leading cause of serious accidents — above 38 km/h, every structure must be closed and deflated, no exceptions, no negotiation.
3. Permanent supervision
One trained adult per structure, continuously: they regulate the number of children, separate sizes, enforce the direction of circulation and ban glasses and hard objects. Without a dedicated supervisor, a structure must stay closed.
4. Blower and electricity
Blower protected behind a barrier, cables out of walkways, extension cords rated for the power and protected from liquids. A pressure drop deflates the structure in seconds: the supervisor must know the evacuation procedure.
5. The right model for the right age
